Joya was a beautiful country, but somethings felt odder than they did in Fiore currently. As he put down the bowls she gripped onto the chopsticks perfectly and slurped the first one. Slowly, she grabbed a soup spoon and sipped it as the noodles were still in her mouth. It was really good as she could taste the broth just right. The noodles didn't hide the taste at all either. Sometimes people made this wrong, no matter what type of 'ramen' it was. "Mmm~ it tastes nice." Her eyes wandered at him and then at her bowl. Something was getting to her. He had a mother who could not even be there for him. A mother that gave him pain within without even trying. A curse was a curse and it made her wonder if one of her experiments would work on him. If so, how will she be able to get him to agree?

Masami chuckled over the feedback, sliding his bowl of udon beside Kurisa then pulling the stool so that he may sit beside her. "Haha, it was?" he asked for confirmation, picking the chopsticks so that he may start to dig in the same as her. "I'm glad, then." With the chopsticks, he raised the noodles of his bowl up, smoke being excreted out of it. He blew through the noodles before making a big munch. Since he had been making these often, the taste felt normal for him. It was good dinner, nevertheless. He was hanging out with an adult this time, someone with experience in the outside world, and it made him feel safer. Last time he hanged out with a young-adult, he got himself dragged around and was almost forced to be in a drunken state. It was in Caberet Crescent, too, so the chosen location wasn't exactly as safe as it sounded. Masami had only realized now that he was getting quite hungry, too, even if he had eaten before heading out. He also ate a rice ball a while ago, but it seems that the smell of the noodles had enticed his stomach. "It's been a while since I ate dinner with someone." said Masami after his mouth was empty, then took another batch of noodles for him to eat. Come to think of it, this is his first time eating dinner inside a house outside Fiore, isn't it? 北正美 |

It was odd, she felt more motherly to him than last time. It felt more like strangers who were just meeting once and never again last time, but it did not turn out that way. She wondered something and did not know how to really ask him. Would he sacrifice his DNA to become her son? It was super weird and most people would exit out of the building, in other words - yet outta here. Her eyes gazed back at her food, feeling guilty of even wanting to ask him. She felt like giving him a life though, adopting him and even more siblings. It felt too soon.

For some reason, that bump gave Masami D-Rank damage, very slightly knocking him back. It felt like being interrogated by his aunts when she asked him the question. 'Finally...?' questioned Masami to himself, as he had always assumed that everyone knew how old he was but... perhaps Kurisa was trying to play safe. "Sixteen?" he didn't hesitate answering her question, though it sounded more like a guess than a fact. People usually assume that he's always either older or younger than he actually was – for some reason, people can't seem to get his appearance aligned with his actual age. "From the look of it, you must be on your 30s," said Masami while slightly munching on the noodles he had picked up to eat, "maybe the same age as my mom, or younger." Masami's parents are, excluding his deceased father, are in their 40s. It was a reasonable age for Masami, considering that he had two older siblings whom were practically adults already, leaving Masami to being a middle child with two more (half) siblings. Asking his age was never offensive to him, however, but sometimes he had felt uncomfortable for making people disappointed when he had revealed his age. 北正美 |

She shook her head, making her eyes go back to a shiny-icy purple. "Oh, yes~ Thirty-seven to be exact. Do I look that old?~" She teased and smiled. She knew she was getting older by the minute, but to be assumed to be her physical age was rather frosty. "So Masami, I wondered something. If you were offered.. let's say... a DNA of another person to become someone's son, offered a happier life and all - like adoption, would you take that offer?" She just randomly decided to ask. It was now or never, but at least it didn't look suspicious as ever, right?

Huh, what, what? As if question marks have appeared on top of Masami's head, he started to reminisce about the previous statements that came out of Kurisa. Did he miss anything? Or was he supposed to understand something he didn't? Suddenly, he was getting confused for no apparent reason—getting confused even if he didn't need to. "Uhh... yeah..." were the words that automatically came out of Masami's mouth, the sudden awkwardness causing him to imitate Kurisa's action of stirring the bowl with two chopsticks. Masami couldn't also remember the first time they met – he understood that it was in Marigold's Theater but... was there something he missed? He doesn't understand how vague his answers towards Kurisa's questions previously, but at least he was getting comfortable around her now. While he was still thinking answers for himself, he tried not to look at Kurisa, but that doesn't stop him from answering whatever question she gives, like the question regards her age versus appearance, wherein Masami answered: "No, actually..." Once again, he picked noodles from his chopsticks and raised it up, "I didn't think you were old until you finally told me you had children." then he filled his mouth with noodles, munching on it before he could speak again. Little did he know that the flavors of the udon bowl had made him stop thinking for a moment, then suddenly he was asked something that made him panic the second time. He suddenly envisioned his math teacher. Grumpy, old man with a stick, forcing Masami to sacrifice his bedtime by perfecting batches of math questions while having his own teacher watch him. Masami was never good at these overly-practical senses, so the word "DNA" had suddenly actived his fight-or-flight mode... mental-fight version! He ate his noodles with anxiety, unsure of what Kurisa meant. He was pretty sure that adopting a child didn't have anything to do with those science stuff, or was there a lesson he didn't listen to in Biology class in the past? Masami raised a brow at her, not saying anything else—although he didn't notice himself that he didn't answer her question. Usually, he would existentially question himself regards the "happier life" but... DNA? What does that stand for again? 'I'm sorry, my scholar ancestors...' cried Masami in his head while raising the bowl of noodles to drink the broth, trying not to catch Kurisa's eyes. 北正美 |

How could she reword it? "Well, you see... It is just like science. Someone will inject their DNA, something someone related shared. After that, they had to use a special ability only science mages learn from their teacher. In the end, two would become biological family." There was a lot more to explain, but she could create a whole novel. She never had a science conversation before with someone before. No one seemed the type to be interested not could she trust them. It was a matter of trust, but she felt a strange connection with him. Unlike Caius, she felt as if he was her Kin. Strange, huh...?

Raising his brow at her, Masami with the empty noodle bowl had nothing more to consume, thus leaving him searching for another excuse just in case he gets into another series of things he doesn't understand. "Will it hurt...?" it was a childish question, and he knew. Anything related to the word "injection" must've been painful, at least to Masami, even if he doesn't remember how being pierced by a needle exactly feels like. Though in Joya, comparing adoption and slavery, the act of only filling contracts in order to have authority over a human being, has shared similar terms – Masami has never heard of anything related to science mage in terms of adoption, so Kurisa's approach regards wanting to take care of him brought down to a confusing point. After all, he had a mom to take care of, would it be a good choice if he'd 'temporarily sell' himself while he was still in Fiore? At least, while he doesn't have the cure yet, would that be a good choice? "Ah, family, huh..." he thought, mentally being held at gun point. To him, it felt like he was being brought to choices that could gradually affect his whole life at one point—he remembered Étaoin, at least their name still brought a familiar tone in Masami's ears, someone he had met in the dark depths of Myras City. To Masami, that person was like a carbon copy, a variation of how Masami's life went, and the similarity was enough to make Masami believe that he was connected to that person. How would that work with Masami and Kurisa? 北正美 |

She wondered how he felt, mostly cause of his current mother, but she just felt like maybe if he could have a real family through her view then perhaps he will be happier. She didn't just want to adopt him, but in the future - others, as well as there, were probably more children who needed love, a mother, a family even. "You know..." She started and cornered her eyes, "At first I didn't want a family. I wanted to be alone, but then meeting some people made me desire a family of my own." Her eyes turned and cornered back to look at him with a small yet reassured smile.

Masami wasn't exactly sure why, but his fight-or-flight mode had suddenly been switched up—the heating of self, the heart beating faster, the state of panic—of course, Masami would appear completely fine on the outside, leaning his cheek on a palm whose elbow lay on top of the counter. "You on the other hand, huh..." repeated Masami in clarification. He was definitely listening, recalling how it felt to get poked by a needle. When he was still being taught how to sew, he poked himself as many times as he could even remember. Apparently, he wasn't the type to complain whenever he gets hurt. Come to think of it, he hasn't complained ever since he set afoot in Fiore. Masami leaned backwards to his own surprise. "Alright! I understand." like a child whose energy was earned from knowing the answer to the teacher's question, Masami answered to assure Kurisa that he was listening. Masami wasn't the type to emotionally connect to someone whose experiences are far from Masami's, and for someone who actually had a good life with a good family, he knew since the start that he had no right to complain. It's just that he didn't the chance to do so when he was allowed to complain for once—he brought this all upon himself. "I could be your family." said Masami, leaning closer, the corners of his lips finally shaking. He was looking all-normal until this point, but will sacrificing himself for the sake of others, for the sake of what he will bring back to Joya, be worth it? Many had asked him if he wears out, and now he will know the answer to that. 北正美 |

What if he regrets it in the end? She had to reassure herself and him for both of their sake. This could not... be undone. "Are... are you sure?" Her eyes looked deeply into his. If he was sure she told him that she was going to be right back and left to go in her room. She had to get this ready and all.
If he said no, then she would laugh it off and act like she never asked. Kurisa could just act like this was some big joke. She just thought somethings to herself as she sighed.

As if he was completely in-charge of his own self, Masami nodded without hesitation. "I don't see a problem at it, at least..." the last two words ended up being a murmur, of course he was still unsure. He was having the same feelings as leaving Joya for the first time, agreeing to something with uncertainty. It had always been hard for Masami to make choices for himself out of the shadows, because it would be fine if no one was watching him but... the person he would make choices for—is right in front of him. "I just don't know when," added Masami, brushing his nape as he tried avoiding Kurisa's gaze. She just had to ask him if he was sure, and now he was trying hard to make sure. It would've been fine if Masami wasn't asked to reassure himself, oh well—what's there to complain about? Kurisa was older than him, way older, and it was simply Joyan culture to respect the elders (even if, sometimes, the said elders were being unreasonable), and Masami has never taught himself how to disrespect the others. He may come off as blunt or mean as a child at most, but as for Kurisa, he had no way out. 北正美 |

Afterward, she put on the gauze that protected the wound. Slowly, she injected serum from the vial hidden deep within her bag and mixed it with her blood. She softly sighed happily and then walked out with it. All he could see was the shot mixed with some red mixed with blue and pink and then her gauze pad. She walked about a few inches up close to his right arm and looked at him with the needle in her hand. "You ready?~" She spoke and then shot it into his vein that was located under the arm. As she saw every last drop go in she put a bandage over it. "It should take a day or so to set in. That or was it a nice sleep?" She wondered and looked away. She did a thinking pose and looked at him.

When Kurisa walked off, Masami deeply exhaled in relief. Now that she will be gone for quite some time, there was finally nothing to worry about—there wasn't anything to worry about, there shouldn't be. But somehow, inside Masami, something was panicking. He couldn't verbally explain the feeling, because such feeling didn't belong to him—he knew that it didn't belong to him. Surely, he would be fine after everything has been settled; Masami must have not yet been familiar with the feeling of suspense and tension... that must be it, right? Nothing changed in his compressed feelings even after Kurisa came back with tools. He had a fist compressed in his chest, trying to help him breathe. Although he didn't say anything else, he willingly let Kurisa pull his arm to finally inject the substance, then he squinted his eyes. 'I'm being awfully submissive, aren't I?' he thought, laughing at how pathetic he was at the moment. Just like as Kurisa said, it was just a small poke, and that it wouldn't hurt – Masami lightly jumped when the needle finally penetrated his skin. Then, just like what happened before, an unexplainable phenomena, Masami's form glitched between the normal and the demon form. Masami wasn't aware of this, nor can he even see or feel what was happening to him. He was so focused on the feeling of being injected—that one point—that he couldn't feel his own body heat up in an abnormal rate. Where was it, the place where he read non-Joyan tales and fantasies? There was something about Demons and Angels, similar to water and oil, was it? In an instant, the process was finished, and Kurisa finally bandaged the arm as if nothing happened. Masami opened his eyes to see his normal clothes, looking down to view his own hands, albeit a dark-grunge filter trying to cover his overall sight. He couldn't define what he was seeing—thus, he squinted his eyes and rubbed them, blinking uncontrollably. When Masami looked up to see Kurisa, she was an overall white-embodiment, blinding Masami and forcing him to push himself off of his seat. 北正美 |

He seemed to be fine until a few seconds later. He got out of his seat for some reason. "Ma-Masami?~" She wondered. She wondered if maybe his memories that had anything to do with his family were depleting within seconds or is trying to do its work, but hard to with him up. She was passed out when she was younger. "Come on.~ Let's get you to a comfortable couch or bed. I don't want you to pass out while standing nor fall." She made an uneasy smile because she was actually concerned. She only did this on one person. That person was herself. If he accepted, she helped him back to whichever location he picked.

The feeling of the need to throw all of his internal organs up, the sudden obsession of coming back home. Masami was whimpering while trying to pick himself up, shaking his head while making attempts in reaching for something. He was self-aware—he knew that he was, but why is it that it was as if he never knew who he was? Did he truly leave Joya for the sake of the cure? Whose cure did he need to find? He was scratching his neck, almost as if choking himself, while curling himself upon the ground, trying both to breathe and not to. There were conflicts ongoing both his head and heart, including the soul—the demon soul, to be specific. It didn't like what happened. They said that the kami had to punish humanity because they had a covenant with them, but humanity broke that covenant, and now they must pay for the price. Would it be the same for Masami, who had a covenant with a demon before he even knew it? There wasn't a voice coming out of his throat, although his mouth was as if trying to scream, his arms trying to push Kurisa away so that he won't hurt her—at least he tried not to hurt her, thinking that he might suddenly harm a person. They say that after suspense is the aftermath of the stress, was this it? 北正美 |

Her memories were too altered as she walked to sit on the couch. It was soft filled with pillows all around. The sectional was large enough for two adults to lay down on each side with a curve for the L-shape. If he did not want her by him then she will give him some space. "I just wanted a son." Her eyes gazed down as the shadow hovered over her again. Slowly, it was snaking their shadow-like arms around her neck. Kuri wasn't sure what was going on, but Arisa's thoughts were getting darker. She wanted a husband, sons and daughters - a life. What should she do? 'They' were confused as all hell with what to do.

Without telling himself anything nor making any sounds at all, Masami gasped for air when his own hands tried to strangle him by whatever means. Because his body was still young, after all, he grew tired eventually. He didn't know if horns grew from his head, but something definitely felt like it had excreted itself out of him. Masami's head was in pain, or at least it was short and worthwhile, but still Masami gave time to reflect on what had happened, still laying down on the floor as he had embraced his own knees. 'I left Joya, because...?' he thought, panicking on the inside, as if forgetting something—forgetting more than he already had. But maybe this wasn't so bad after all... after all, he was with Kurisa the whole time... was he? Masami's memories had started to become hazy, he didn't expect these things to happen, and Masami was convincing himself that most of these weren't real. 'I came here for my mother's cure.' he thought, pulling himself up, one hand held the side of his head as he wasn't feeling like himself anymore. Still weren't looking anywhere else but his own feet, he quietly murmured: "Miss Kurisa...?" 北正美 |

"You alright?" She wondered and wanted to be all motherly, but something, apart of her made her stop. It was like something was making her feel like he'd hate it, he'd get annoyed or mad at her. All she could do was sit there like a lost mother doggo watching helplessly. Why was this so hard? She was about to have a panic attack, wasn't she. She took a deep breather and gave a small smile. "Anything I can do for you?~" She asked sweetly with a cool-motherly smile. Inside, she was a wreck that was a crack away from destruction, but on the outside she was a sweet motherly figure who just likes to help.

Still quite dizzy, his steps wobbling, Masami looked at Kurisa from afar. His eyes were sanguine-red in color for a moment, but in a few seconds they were back to yellow—something must've happened, but Masami does not know this, nor was he even completely aware of what had happened to him while he was semi-unconscious. He was aware that he was with Kurisa in this suite, of course, and apparently she was the only one he focused on. Who is more deserving of attention and kindness than a mother? His eyes darted all-around the rooms, a hand still rubbing an eye while his vision was still slowly coming back, like a child who had just awoken from his sleep. Masami was, at the moment, nothing more than an innocent being of unaware intent, searching for his mother—Kurisa—but still unsure of how it went like this, or was it like this since the start? His memories were messed up, ever since the start, and after that injection, Masami felt like he had already given up a long time ago. Finally, when he heard her voice, he smiled, then reached her while kneeling down—embraced her lower waist then rubbed his head over her stomach. When he looked up, meeting her eyes, he gave her a warm smile and uttered: "I'm finally home, mother." [exit] 北正美 |

She had three children, right? No.. more than that, but who were they? She felt like God was testing her, HE was testing her and SHE was nowhere near her. No, she was tempting other beings such as a certain someone. The goddesses enjoyed giving those with temptation even more thirst for what they want. Kurisa on the other hand just wanted her family, but there were so many more blocks to go. Masami's bond with her was now complete as they were family, mother and son.
