Father Jerad was sick and nobody was willing to let Masami finish his job because of what he recently did in the cathedral: when a sick child didn't want to drink his medicine, he cried when Masami made an attempt to force it into his mouth even when the child refused. After the occurrence halted by having the two separate from each other, Masami walked out and left the cathedral, thinking that he needed some fresh air. He had no choice but to wear the clothes that the cathedral gave him, and he was in debt to them for staying without having anything in his pockets. The person he believed to be his guild master had dropped him here in Magnolia City and hadn't come back ever since, where was Masami supposed to go? His thoughts processed when he was sitting in the bench, thinking of things to do; his legs swayed underneath and he had nowhere else to look but his own feet. He wore the same clothing as the choir boys in the cathedral—thick fabrics covered his upper body and white cloth overlay atop of it. Uniform; the choir boys from the cathedral wore shorts and so did Masami, so his comfort was similar to his usual clothing style. Except, he was a traditional Joyan and he was wearing Fiorian clothing—it felt like a sin. He looked down upon himself so much that he viewed himself as nothing but a child, and that he hesitated his response towards the Guard Captain when he was called to inspect something. Since he was wearing clothes that made Masami similar to the fellows in the cathedral, they would assume that he was also a follower of Illumin, or whoever was the deity they worshipped. Trying not to be rude, albeit sounding like it was, Masami had uttered, "I am not going there alone." If Hosenka City had gangs, Magnolia City had cults; for someone who had already witnessed the works of the same group, what if they also attempt to hold Masami captive? 344/1500 北正美 |

The quest-giver called Devon is the captain of the guards in Magnolia. A serious man who does a serious job, daily scouts the city, but also just checks the other guards doing a good job. Vice will probably never see Devon doing any work himself. Whatever ugly injury is on Devon's face will never be seen by Vice. The captain's helmet has never been taken off, afraid to scare the citizens, but Devon chooses to scare his hygiene instead. Lazy guard guy wants Vice to see if there is truth to potential cults within Magnolia. Thus, Vice will ask around, hoping to find someone that can bring the truth to light, whether it's evil or good. Once someone's found, Vice is to pursue the matter further, and he'll go to the highest lengths!
Apparently, Devon thinks Vice is qualified to handle some potential cultists, but he has no idea how strong the cultists are. Vice remembers helping Devon find new recruits, but the guy doesn't want to sacrifice them for this task. What, is this a subtle ritualistic offering of Vice instead? The forming of a cult is dangerous, sure, but it's also most dangerous for Vice when the cult's just forming. When things start, they tend to be most volatile. The worst case scenario is the most adventurous thing to prepare for, and Vice gets the feeling Devon knows how this request will go down chaotically. If there's a person actually out there that can deny the cult's presence, they'd have to have absolute knowledge of the going ons in Magnolia. Luckily, Vice is going to get help in a quest for once.
"Hey there my name's Vice, and I'm the resident S-rank mage, at your service! What do you think about Fairy Tail? Oh, let's go find some more culty friends." Eyeing Masami's outfit, Vice pops up from a street corner joyfully, and crouches down into Masami's sight, away from the swinging legs. Playfully nodding his head, Vice syncs up safely with Masami's movement, if he's still swinging his legs. Devon's useless to Vice, so he might as well get going with this quest friend, and Vice is already acquainted with the magicless quest-giver anyway.

Simply put, Masami wasn't feeling up to it—indeed, he was one who liked taking quests and earning money in return, but he was in a state of discomfort where he did not want to do anything at all. This man who had introduced himself as "Vice" seemed to know what he was doing, and who this Guard Captain was, to be able to freely crouch down to match Masami's sight with energy. A while ago, Masami mentioned that he wouldn't dare going around town, asking people for some cult, if he was alone. Unfortunately, he no longer has a reason to avoid taking the request; he had scanned Vice's appearance from head to toe, pieces of him was in disbelief that he was an S-Rank mage, but was convinced that he was from that Fairy Tail guild that Masami has heard of. His body had stopped moving as to halt the Guard Captain from saying anything else, too; "Fine," he answered, standing up from his seat as to brush dust off of his cathedral uniform. With these clothes, he had felt like everybody assumed that he was a child. Although nothing is necessarily wrong about that, the Lucifer inside Masami didn't like it, which was why he has been feeling so annoyed this whole time? Would it be better if he had let Lucifer exposed for a while to express himself? Probably not, he thought, instead looking at Vice to tick his head to the opposite direction and utter, "Let's go, S-Rank mage." "It's just asking townsmen about a pre-formed cult, why did the Captain Guard have to recruit more? Can't they do it themselves?" Masami told Vice while moving through the town, trying not to sound like a brat who complained a lot, so he had made his face appear as if he was rather curious than annoyed. "Oh! I've also never been in Fairy Tail," he said, "I heard that they were messy at times, though, and that their new guild master disappeared lately." Masami's guild master has disappeared lately as well, right after 'kid-napping' Masami and dropping him off to Magnolia with no supervision. Until this point, Masami had felt quite ticked off by what that red-head did; before he was able to identify the emotion as being in "the state of annoyance," he had held a hand out to an old woman, perhaps a vendor, and asked: "Hello! We are from the Kardia Cathedral and would like to ask you information about cults around Magnolia City? Please give us some of your time." The woman had to blink twice before she was able to identify Masami's appearance. First off, Masami was a foreigner, wearing Fiorian clothing, most specifically church clothing, what would they think? "Ah, we don't know those..." she said, her face uttering a silent sigh, and then she held out a bag of cookies to give to Masami, "work hard, little boy. I was like you when I was younger, doing all the good deeds for our great Illumin. May He bless you." Like the woman, Masami had blinked twice as well—she really thought that he was a choir kid! His hand instinctively accepted the bag of cookies, and his face blushing into a bright red of hue in embarrassment. "T-Thanks..." no need to do anymore here—looks like you're loved by people here in Magnolia if you're from the church? They could have been more useful, though. "I—uhh... I'm not from the church," he admitted to Vice in a whisper after distancing from the woman, looking for new people to approach and to interview. He was embarrassed and didn't want to consume the cookies inside the plastic bag, decorated with a ribbon; now that Masami had thought of it, these were sold to children...! 978/1500 北正美 |

"Mmm. They're just incompetent." Following along Masami softly, Vice doesn't mind insulting the guard directly. Bloody fireworks could make the trip away from Hargeon worth it for Vice! "Outsourcing won't get the job done." Prepared for the worst, Vice expects all the twists and turns of the side quests too. Come to think of it, for Vice, he's got no idea how strong Masami is. "That's a shame. I haven't really met my guild master yet. I can't imagine rebelling against one. Are you in any guild?" Here on Masami's favor, Vice just chases after the side of Masami. Cultists can be kind of strong, and Vice kind of isn't supposed to be taking this quest at his level. The preliminary comforts of traveling the streets can soothe Vice's worries. Any direct contact with cultists could come later, but they're unlikely to lash out in the streets. Cultists have a reputation to uphold as well!
Smiling at Masami's final remarks, Vice doesn't have anything to add. Not looking to pursue the matter, Masami can take the smile as he wills, but Vice indicates that it's time to abandon Masami for a bit. Be free, choir boy! What madness will the choir boy get himself into? Parting himself into the streets, Vice bumps into people randomly. Looking panicked, not because he's lost his bud MASAMI, Vice wants to sell the part. A desperate man is here, that needs to rely on the sexy cultists that are advertising today. Going through the streets, Vice will eventually find someone traumatized by this cult, or someone interested in getting in the cult. Not knowing what the options are, Vice asks more people than necessary about the cult, and only probes further when he feels like he'll get something out of it. Wildly flailing around, Vice hopes Masami isn't embarrassed about Vice's method acting.

Sniff. How Masami wishes Vice that he shouldn't have had mentioned anything related to guilds—Masami didn't want to think about it, now his mind isn't thinking of anything but guilds. Effortlessly walking around with a small bag of cookies in a hand, he had found himself rummaging his palms through his eyes to brush tears off of them. Stupid red-head, thought Masami, putting all of the blames on the man whom dropped him here in Magnolia, legitimately. Masami looked around for Vice; they were still partners in this current quest and Masami is the type to lust for completing workload, so he had to make sure that his fellow quest partner is doing a good job, only to—What the hell is he doing?—see that said partner in a very silly manner. Masami didn't know whether he'd childishly laugh or get confused. So far, Blue Pegasus members were often if not charming, very eccentric and odd in appearance, except Masami doesn't yet know that Vice is from that same guild. Come to think of it, he wasn't so far from where Vice was going, after all. Okay, maybe it really is better if I take the choir boy role, loudly, he'd then utter in apology, "I'm sorry, we were looking for a certain cult..." He felt naïve and he'd lightly chuckle at Vice's silly manner, only to get pulled to the side by a stranger. Definitely, he was an odd stranger, but he wore clothes that made him not seem so odd at all. He was old but also not; in fact, he appeared very classy and he was gentle when he pulled Masami away from the crowd to speak to him in private, even if the scenario itself was scary. "You and that man seek a cult?" they asked; Masami—who looked like a child—was convinced that the man assumed that he was gullible. After all, that man was two feet taller than Masami! And he was wearing choir clothes! For cultists, a person (who looked) like Masami was a big deal, a jackpot for brainwashing! Knowing this, Masami nodded, looking for Vice as to indirectly tell him that they've got "that fourth man" they were ought to eventually bump into. 1358/1500 北正美 |

"You and that man seek a cult?" GOOD JOB MASAMI, Vice is always impressed. Vice believed in his companion all along. Limping on close to the shady pair, Vice still has his trusty staff that looks like a stick. "Yes, my little brother and I..." Shaking in exciting anticipation, Vice THINKS FIRMLY. Perhaps, the mystical powers of the cult can heal whatever fake illness cripples Vice? The deviant path, perhaps, Masami can be taken away from his ew priesthood? "We're so disappointed in the lesser cults and are looking to upgrade." Shaking his walking stick, Vice now seriously waits to be sold on a cool, new cult.
"Okay, do you like cults?"
"Of course, do I get free curses and blessings? FREE MAGIC?"
"YASSSS"
"LET'S GO"
What a convincing process has occurred. Can Vice's interest in the cult peak any further? There is probably some deity that Vice should have asked about, but when he can get MAGICAL CURSES why does the cult matter? All that matters is the level of need Vice gives off. Cooly signaling to Masasasami, Vice is now prepared for level 2. The scary child prodigy that found the cultists can do anything it puts it's mind to! The Blue Pegasus mage is happy to accompany the fascinating creature. With the best of cults found, the cultist slips something dark and smelly to Vice. Taking the warm invitation, Vice and Masami get to know all about where to go now. No greater cult can be discovered, and the challenge has been presented. Waiting at night, Vice goes to a nearby store, and the prepared password is used by Vice to get inside. The cultists seem to be barbecuing something, and it smells dopey too!
Atmosphere can't get any better, and Vice is not biased at all, with him possessing Darkness Magic to be innately twisted. Following through the bakery or butcher shop brings the atmosphere to be even better, as Vice goes through a backroom's super hidden tunnel. Mr. Cultist from earlier is here to guide Masami and Vice through all that needs to be done! Finding the secret chamber full of cultists, Vice is now satisfied with his experience, but he also gets to talk a bit more. Vice isn't a ritualistic sacrifice, no, that'd be unfair. Somehow getting found out (MASAMI), Vice needs to use his secret technique of running away! What, is that senior citizen and leader guy that talked an X-rank? Ganging up isn't cool.
It's convenient that Vice is full of non-justice and running away out to the street full of shields gets Vice to safety. Losing the pursuers through alleyways, Vice finds his way back to Devon with Masami presumably, and Vice lets the man know that there are living cultists! Happy that the cultists will propagate, Vice received his reward.
"Nice meeting you! You should go to Fairy Tail! Play tic tac toe with their building maybe, be their leader? I'm outy from Magnolia soon." If Masami's around, Vice gives some last playful musings, and listens if he gives his name. Then, it's time to be outy from Magnolia SOON.

Masami doesn't know enough metagame to know how this was going, so he followed along. He has this habit of assuming that all older people are wiser, and apparently tougher, so even with how Vice was acting with his crippled legs and walking staff (turns out, he was the old man who cosplayed as a young boy?), Masami thought that it was a... uhh, a wise thing to do. In before, cults were creepy, but Vice seemed to really be into those, apparently. Maybe they aren't so religious, maybe it's just the crazy Joyan men who made cults creepy? Masami watched as the intimidating man, who was apparently a fan girl now, turn Vice into the same. Slowly, he'd unseal the ribbon off of the small plastic bag and take a cookie for him to eat while the two of them are there discussing all kinds of things, which can eventually help out sooner. It didn't even take them too long to reach the cultists' location. Compared to Masami, Vice was the excited one, even with his staff that Masami had noticed only now. A part of Masami, truly, thought that Vice was in his forties. How could he even know? Masami's guild master legitimately looked like he was sixteen even though he was already almost forty, or something, thanks to magic. Wait, didn't they say something regards respecting your elders? Masami had almost forgotten traditions! Seeing how Vice was limping, Masami would step in front, stop Vice from moving on while they were still travelling in the tunnel, then utter, "Would you like me to carry you, uncle?" Well, that sounded weird. Joyan to Fiorian sounds weird. Either way, Masami would assume that they'll eventually meet with the cult then—suddenly, they were being chased? Where did they go wrong? When Masami raised a hand and pointed at Vice, who apparently ran faster than Masami, a gigantic hand had formed from the sky and swiped the both off of their feet. It was a faster travel this time, since they were flying and Masami believed that this was efficient enough. Both of them came back to Devon, and were then rewarded. At that point, Masami had forgotten that he wasn't a choir boy, but a Joyan kid who came to Fiore to find some cure, but apparently getting stuck because his "guild master kidnapped him to Magnolia and then disappeared" so now he had to wait. Vice's optimism made Masami raise a brow; "Are you from Fairy Tail?" he'd ask, but only to shake his head and utter, "Nevermind," he wouldn't want to know. At this point, he still didn't know that Vice is from Blue Pegasus; if only he knew, then definitely, he'd think nothing of that guild as weird. 1820/1500 北正美 |
