Job:

The storm had a lot of effects on the city, flooding and such had caused some damage to buildings in the areas, and recent news had said the sewers had overrun and flowed into some building homes and even the streets in some locations. Two members of the newly formed Sleeping Calamity had picked this area as their headquarters so the two were canvassing the area after the storm to check out any changes to the environment that might cause an issue for them.  Being an Illegal Guild had pros and cons, and this is just as part of the cons. Having to ensure the city you made a home at remained in a state you could remember so you knew when things were afoot.

While making this patrol the two red-haired members came across the man standing outside of a larger building. He wore a black suit with a purple tie, he was plump, so much so the buttons on the suit looked like they could rocket off into the air at any moment.  He was muttering something to one of the men with him when the pair walked into earshot.

"We'll have to secure it for sure. Ah perfect, excuse me. You two there." he said while flagging the two down the two Sleeping Clamamity members.

The recent storm that hit the town was gone now, but the effects it held was still seen. Tress on the ground, dirt and rocks appearing to be attached to everything, and animals. Animals out of the wood works everywhere. It was a combination of people leaving their homes open and even more so, open food and things to drink in they helpless dramatic attempt to escape the weather. Little of the civilian population had come back yet, more time would need to pass before they felt the weather was competently subsided. It may not be storming anymore, but there was still a light trickle of rain that could easier grow into something heavier, and a soft gust of wind that thankfully did not knock the leather hat off of the red headed enchantresses head. However, there was one thing that was true, the town was a mess and little to no people were hear to clean up. Thus making it an issue only for Jikan's alliance, even chaotic villains could not live like pigs after all, specially with Jikan around.

However, that was not the concern right now, for some odd reason Jikan was out with Knux today. Patrolling the area. It was not like anyone was around, but given the...recent situation the guild was in, she did not mind making sure no party poopers were around. In this middle of their walk, they came upon a large man, dressed in a  nice suit with a purple time. Mumbling something to one of the men by him. When they got in ear shot they man began to call out to them, no more like flag them down as he stepped in front of Jikan causing her to stop. She eyed the man with a slight annoyance but decided to let him have her attention. "Well what is it? Go on?".

"Yes yes pardon the intrusion", the man clapped his hands together, rubbing them together. "You two look like strong able people. And I have a slight situation I would appreciate help with. With a reward of course. You see I have bought this fine building behind us, and alas, due to the recent weather it is a bit of a mess. There is, well a rat infestation. Nasty little beasts, part of the reason I have it now is because they have hurt the previous owners a heavy bit. If you could...remove them and find and stop whatever is letting them it it would be greatly appreciated".

After the man gave his little task for the two of them, the armored-up man looked over to  Jikan and shrugged. It would be an easy enough task to kill some rats and get paid for it. It would not give them much of a hard time to deal with it, just would be time-consuming.   Knuckles looked back to the man before running his index and thumb together. "How much are we talking? We are warriors Sir, not a mere clean-up clue. "  The man chuckled as he placed his hands into his pockets and whistled. One of the men walked over with a briefcase of money, it was a lot of jewels. "Some of this will be yours, but there are some items missing from when I bought the place. If you recover them it can all be yours. Agreed?"

Knuckles looked back to Jikan and nodded that he agreed to the terms.  If she agreed as well he would draw his blade and shield as he walked into the building leading the way. "Let me take the point, if something comes at us I can use my armor and gear to cover us. "

Upon entering the building Knux could see the swarm of rats, there were so many he could barely see the floor. He had seen death, rotting bodies, destruction on almost any scale, but this was disquieting and made his skin crawl a bit.  Immediately he would begin swinging his blade killing the rats in bunches as his blade swung through the bodies.

As the man continued talking and eventually stopped Jikan's eyes left the large man and went to the red headed armored companion that was with her. A shrug came from the man, displaying externally the same feelings that Jikan held inside about it; eh whatever. It was rats, an elimination, nah, an extermination job. An easy one that could pay good, well, maybe not easy, it could be a pain to hunt down all these rats with how squirmy they are. When the man whistled and brought the money on the question of how much money the job would get. Some? Hold up I am not doing this if I am only getting some of that.

That concern did not appear to be shared with her companion though. For Knuckles had turned towards her and nodded. A sign that he was fine with the job and getting the amount the man promised them. She followed him but was sure to speak to the man, "Yeah, from the amount in the bag that's not gonna be enough. We are going to need a bit more than that. Hazard for our health and last minute job and all. I'm sure you understand".

After which she would follow Knux, letting the fellow take the lead. Entering the room and quickly closing the door after to prevent them from spreading into the open streets, she saw it was a swarm. Oh joy. A disgusting amount, this was an infestation. Following Knux, Jikan kicked as she moved, flinging the rodents to walls with a thud that ended their existence and kicking a few into the air to then kick and use them as projectiles to hit more. Gauntlets or not she did not feel like touching this disease ridden creatures.

Scanning the room as he slangs his sword about, the rats were the size of dogs.  While looking around he saw there was a mass of them coming from a backroom, it seemed to be where they were all coming from. Knuckles dodged to the right as a rat jumped to snap at his arm. "Disgusting. Jikan straight ahead looks to be a room where they are coming out, perhaps if we can fight our way there we can block where they are coming from. Also, those jewels alone are not enough to cover the cost of this job, but it seems he bought this building for what it held rather than what it is. "

After speaking to Jikan, the Warrior readied himself and slashes through more of the giant rats. Their squeals of the rats who met the blade of his sword seemed to attract more rats, while Jikan seemed to punt the beast into the walls. It was odd seeing her attack without her fist, he had not known her to fight using her legs before.  He thought about teasing her but did not wish to get punched in the back of the head. He'd wait when she was on the side of him or in front to make such a comment.

Thump. Thump. Thump. The rat's bodies sounded against the dirty walls of the room they were in. Dozens of pets swarmed around Jikan and Knux as they scurried about, only a small gap in the number that they needed to work together to take care of were getting slayed right now. Jikan's right leg was up in the air bent at the knee as she turned it sideways before placing it back down to the ground. It was definitely easier to use her legs to strike at these rodents then her arms, her reach with her legs were longer than her arms after all.

After throwing out a last kick that threw two more rodents away from her. She turned her head towards Knux and listened to him as he spoke. Following his sight, Jikan soon saw the entrance that lead to the room that the rats were coming out of.

Jikan would duck down, dodging the leaping scratch of two rodents attempting to get at her face. Dropping to the ground Jikan would stick out her left leg, knocking another rodent away, knocking a few more rodents with it as they all left out a squeal. In a fast swiping motion, Jikan would swing her torso and leg in a three hundred and sixty degree circle, knocking away the nasty little pests that were running about around her. "Yea, those jewels are not going to be enough and I doubt that guy gonna have more jewels to bring out when this is done".

Wanting to get done with this, Jikan made her way forward, kicking pests and stomping on them as she made her way forward to stand side to side with Knux.

The fight raged on with the large rats and two redheads. The warrior among them batted the nasty creatures away with his shield and cleared a path for them to walk with his blade. He could not get over the size and number of these rats.  Lifting his shield to protect himself, knuckles listened to Jikan as she stepped up to him.  Knuckles nodded in agreeance as his blade slew yet another few rats swinging it back and forth like he was cutting crops or weeds.   "I say we keep what we find, after all, we all know the saying." She would know what he meant, or at least he hoped so.  After speaking he would push forward heading towards the room, it was only feet away

Knuckles would lunge forward to reach the door, smashing into a swarm of the giant rats.  He was thankful for his gear at this time,  as the rats scratched into his armor. Knuckles battled them away when he could blocking with the shield, or bashing them with it. His sword working madly to go from target to target. A Puncture to the body here, a slice of the head there, parry of an attack.  The sword finding its way into a handful of the rats attacking him.  He could not help but to wish for some type of fire magic  "We need to stop them from coming in. "

With her last kick and hop, Jikan made her way besides the red haired knight. With his shield and sword, he slashed and battered his way forward step by step through the maze of over sized rodents. It was a lot of motion for Jikan, moving back and forth to one of Knux's sides or Knux's back to cover one of his blind sides. It would be problematic if the hearty warrior was overwhelmed by surprised group barrage by the rodents when the man was not looking in a direction. The man's armor protected his body and would give him some added defense, like a fortress, but all things can be cracked into if enough bodies where thrown at it the right way. And Jikan had no desire to see rats sneaking into the gaps in his armor and biting on the man from the inside.

With Knux's sword up and Jikan making a last minute movement to pivot behind him and punch away a rodent that lunged at him from behind. She was starting to enjoy this slightly, the quick motion, watching multiple things everywhere, it was a nice challenge and a little of a workout.

"Finders keepers?", she said it with a slightly amused smirk on her face, "sounds good with me". The feeling was mutual here. This infestation was big work, and more importantly an annoyance irritable type of job. The pay shown to them was no where near the proper amount, and there was no way that man did not know at least half of the amount of rodents they faced would be here. She would not let herself be underpayed and cheated out of her rightful pay. Following Knux into the next room, there was only the same. More rodents, more kicks, and more of Knux's sword being soaked in red rat blood and his shield bashing into their prey.

"I think I got something for that, stand back". Jikan jumped infront of Knux, aiming her eyes at the gap that the rodents were coming out of at first. The room was wide, longer than an average room should be. By her estimation the room was about sixteen feet long, with the entrance of the rats coming a little bit forward, at about fifteen meters back. Jikan had just the spell in mind. She lined up a punch, her hand encased in a flash of pure magical wind that seemed to glimmer in white energy flowing around her arm. Centering her body and placing his right foot forward and her core tight, she extended his right fist with a shout. Her shoulders squared and his left hand to her core, her magic came to life. Like a snake striking and a coiled spring freeing itself, a twirl of wind is formed around her hand and grew! The size of the twister grew outward to a max of 1 meter in size and traveled 15 meters from Jikan's fist. The sound was like a wild lion throwing out an explosive roar. The wind flew and skidded against the surface, cutting at the rodents unlucky to be in the one meter path of Jikan's wind spell, cutting, slashing, and pushing the pests as it moved forward.

Knuckles nodded as Jikan finished the saying, she understood well what he was proposing to her. It relieved him that she did agree. Each other the  Sleeping Calamity members were clearing a path, Jikan even helping him from attacks he could not see coming.  Jikan matched Knuckles with his advance, though was taken for a shock when he saw her go before him. He would let her do whatever it was she was going to do, in the meantime, he would fight the rodents from the way they had just come.   It was then he felt a gust of wind and he looked to the woman, it was the first time he had really seen her use her magic in such a way, the roar of the winds was evident that the spell had some power to it, followed by the cries and screams of the dog-sized beast she was cutting up.  He was truly in awe, no matter how well he would ever wield a blade, his swings would never be able to handle such a thing, cutting in so many directions at once and doing so much damage to that many targets.  

Knuckles paused his defensive attacks and just watched the spell. [color=red] "Well, that's fancy where did you pick that up?" He wondered how long she had been able to do that one. It was impressive, and surely something that could be useful in the future.

Her spell dance, the gale shrapnel flew forward and split towards the the gaped entrance that the rats were coming through. The one meter width of the spell was not really large, but it was wide enough to give a pleasant sight of the house's floor. The bodies of the rodents, at least for the moment, was vacate from that spot in front of the wall. Jikan turned her head half way to Knux, splitting her focused attention between him and the rats that were seemingly running around and away in a panic. "Oh~, I have had that one under my belt for a while now". It was something she had worked on after her first meeting with Ariael several months ago. She needed something with range, and the spell defiently succeeded in that. But it suffered the issue of power, amazingly enough, Jikan found herself to physically be able to deal out much more power than that spell with just her pure brute strength in her hands. There was no need to say any of that addition information though.

The spell died down, decreasing in size and noise, the question was now how much more they would need to do, and where is that item?

The hole in the wall where the rats had been coming from was now free of any of the medium-sized beasts.  Looking around he saw an old wooden table, perhaps he could plug up the hole with that, he walked over to it, not even bothering any longer with the rats around them. Jikan had scared them off, they were all retreating away after that display of power.  With his sword in hand, he sliced off the legs of the table.  He put his shield back onto his upper back and sheathed his sword moving the tale to the hole.  Once he was near the hole in the wall he placed the table against it, moments later he drew his blade once more cutting the wooden top of the table to fit into the hole with a bit of force. Though as he went to seal the hole, he saw a bag, reaching his hand in he pulled it out and tossed it at Jikan's feet.  Something then started to make way throughout the sewers, and it was heading this way.

"There is some of the loot I guess that guy wanted. I also hear something coming through the sewers sounds big, I'll handle it and toss back up anymore loot I may find. I can't believe I am about to go into the sewers."  Knuckles pushed through the hole, on the other side he soon knew what the sounds were coming from, drawing his katana once more he looked out to the 1-meter tall rat.  Knuckles dug both feet into the ground under him, focusing his mana he fed it into the armor casting the spell within it. Knuckles was at his full speeds instantly and traveled 10 m/s across 20 meters if he so chose, but he only needed half that distance to reach the target.  In typical anime fashion, the red-haired swordsman swung his blade out in a slash as he crosses the leader of the rats then sheathed his blade almost all the way. He waited 1 second after he stood running then pushed the blade all the way in, as the motion was completed, blood sprayed out from the neck of the rat as the head fell to the floor.  Knuckles made way back to the hole he had traveled through, plugged up the whole, and made way outside seeing Jikan had concealed the loot.  Leading them outside Knuckles walked up to the man and held out his hand. "What about the loots eh?
Knuckles grinned as his hand rested on the hilt of his blade. "What about it indeed, pay us and we shall be on our way unless you want us to bring you into the sewers."


The man began to panic, wiping his forehead as he did some. He handed over the briefcase of jewels and said they could have it. Knuckles nodded and headed back towards the guild house. He needed a shower and was sure Jikan felt the same.   "Remember, this is Sleeping Calamity's town"
