Signs beat against doorways and shops. The wind swirled the dust and debris back into the air. The clouds rapidly converged around the dark rift and turned black. Thunder cracked and wind howled louder, and louder. A funnel of wind formed a tornado around the dark rift in the sky. It swirled and raged as the people held their arms up against the buffeting winds.
The tornado crashed down onto the townsquare. Statues crumbled and cobblestones burst. White strands of hair bleed out of the whirlwind between gales. Red eyes flashed with eager thirst. Kaz knelt on the ground and slowly rose. The wind scattered around him and rejoined the dark storm above. Soldiers from another world battered against the walls on the outside of the city. Kaz took in a deep breath. "How fresh this air is." The rune knights were quick to act, already spilling into the town square. The first wave to scout and inquiry.
"You've made your first mistake in not sending the rest." Kaz glared at the knights of various ranks. One man stepped forward with sword drawn. His mere presence caused a twitch in Kaz's eye. An annoyance that quickly turned to laughter.
"Really...you think you are the one suited for this. Perhaps you will serve me well." KAz said and the knight tilted his head in confusion. He rose an army to send in the rest of the men. Or at least he had tried to. He rose his arm only to reveal the bloody stump that remained. His forearm splattered on the ground and kaz stood next to him in an instant.
"You will bow...or you will DIE," he flicked his wrist and a burst of wind sent the man's body into ribbons. With a wicked smile Kaz the wind mage stepped back and vanished from sight.
"A game perhaps. Hide.... and Feast," his voice came from the shadows that lingered all around them. Muffled in the winds that blew violently about. The knights gathered together. A captain stood among them now.
Surges of wind took their attention left and right.
"DO YOU SEE HIM?" A guard yelled and faced the team. In the blink of an eye, he was snatched and flung into the air. His body dropped with fang marks around his neck and lifeless eyes.
A deep and slow laugh echoed through the darkness that now overtook part of the town and loomed over the band of knights. Another flash of light gleamed and a knight dropped to his knees with nothing left on his shoulders but a clean cut.
The knights quivered as their mouths ran dry. "Let this be a demonstration. Stand down. Accept that your home is now mine. Or be swept away," he said calmly as a tornado crashed down, leaving only one knight unharmed.
And the vampire from another dimension vanished into the shadows, hunting for his next prey. One that would solidify his take over.
