There was an abandoned mineshaft that Brone had discovered when the guild was still making adjustments to the foundation to the area, so they decided to reach it’s end and hopefully find continue forward on their quest.
Truthfully, and he admitted this to his friend, that he wasn’t sure if there was a magma chamber nearby, but there were moments when the Stone had whispered to him, telling him there was a heartbeat somewhere down below. Brone had not talked about his faith ever, mainly openly back at home with his clan since they were religious, but this hunch he had was more based on faith and he hoped Yuurei would understand.
The mineshaft was old and any equipment that was left before was covered in cobwebs. All lanterns were left unlit given that the oil within them had long since gone, but for the sake of his friend, Brone had brought along a lantern he had snagged from one of the night patrolmen of the guild.
”I had offered the gnome to come but he said ‘no’” The dwarf chuckled. It was an understatement; Gnicholas actually stated to travel to find a magma chamber was one of the most dangerous things anyone could do and preceded to call Brone a danger-prone idiot. As for the ravens, they hated being underground, and Benimaru was convinced by the gnome to remain in the guild hall where it was safe. Brone shrugged, he was fine with Yuurei and Reinji, that is if the exceed decided to join them.
