As a familiar voice called out to her, Kanna all but jolted. Her senses felt sharper now, far more receptive than they'd been in her human body. But lacking the clarity to adequately process what she was feeling, she simply looked around, desoriented, until her eyes came to rest on Nikki. Almost immediately that thumping in her chest subsided, and she felt something else entirely. Comfort, security...
"Ah.... Ni... Nikki...?", even as she struggled for form words, the blonde yet mumbled her lover's name amidst those animalistic sounds.
She felt it, the bond between a fledgeling and her sire, something invisible yet very much palpable tying her to the woman at her side... And yet at this moment, as Nikki whispered these honeyed words. Their dynamic must have felt more like that of a wild animal and her master. She met the woman's gorgeous ruby gaze, her chest heaving up and down, her whole body yet covered in blood from her near death experience and the battle that lead to it. She managed but a single nod, almost on instinct more than anything, for even if she struggled to make sense of her words, she understood her lover's feelings all too well. Nikki's voice distracted her from her hunger, though even her love for her sire couldn't keep it at bay for long. The sight of a victim, trapped and helpless caught her eyes immediately, all the more so when Nikki drew blood from the man's neck:
"Grrr...", her expression changed once more as she couldn't help but growl, slowly staggering back to the man, all but salivating as she finally lunged and tore at the captive prey, biting onto that single trail of blood like her life depended on it, "Hraaaah!!"
"Wait what...?! What the hell are you? Vampire?!! Nnonono get away from meee!!!"
A criminal, no doubt one Nikki had fetched from the streets. Fortunately for her victim, he was dead almost instantly as the ravenous Kanna viciously tore out his jugular with her teeth and dug in, a frenzied feast unlike any of the elegance older and more experienced vampires carried themselves with. She gulped down his blood one steady chug at a time, that metallic taste like the most delicious ambrosia she'd ever tasted in her life. More... More...!! Maybe all vampires go through this right after they change, or Kanna simply had it worse due to the state her body had been in. Though still battered and broken, every drop of blood she savoured healed her wounds one at a time.
"Haaaa~...", a satisfied sigh left her lips when she came up for air, having drained the street thug to little more than a shrivelled husk. She could actually stand upright now without stumbling with every step but... She was far from healed, and her higher reasoning hadn't returned either.
That wasn't nearly enough... Still hearing those pounding pulses in the distance, Kanna rushed off, only sharing a single last look with her lover as she fled like a stray dog, eager to keep hunting.
