Introduction

Fae are humans who have been bestowed with a Fairy's Sidhe. When this happens, the human gets a portion of power similar to that of the Fairy. Because of their Sidhe, they must obey the purpose bestowed upon them by the Fairy, but they aren't bound by any kind of morality

Governance

  • Governance: None

  • Head: None

  • Capital: None

  • Population: There are not many Fae.

  • Realm: Earthland

Details

  • Languages: Fae speak the Fairy language. Depending on where they were born before they turned into Fae, they might be capable of speaking multiple Earthland languages.

Religion

  • Religion: Officially None. Some worship and serve the Fairies that gave them powers, while others revere the very Earthland from which their powers are drawn.

Biology

  • Appearance: Fae look similar to humans, but are blessed with almost ethereal, striking beauty. Their hair and skin colour varies, reflecting their heritage and the appearance they had as mortals. The main difference from their parent race lies in their eyes, which display vibrant colours, often with unusual patterns. Their Fairy Eyes glow brighter when using their powers and they can even grow a pair of colourful insectile wings when needed.

  • Lifespan: The Fairy's Sidhe gives the Fae a longer lifespan. Though not immortal like the Fairies, they can live up to 200 years old. Fae are whimsical in nature and generally shun all out warfare, though they frequently live out their days while retaining their youthful appearance.

  • Psychology: Fairies are notoriously whimsical, a free, independent people prone to frequent mood swings and impulsive behavior. Easily impressed, they're frequently attached to and prone to imitating the people they take a liking to. Inherently neither good nor evil, Fairies and by extension, their Fae offspring live according to their purpose and the fleeting nature of their desires. They are pure, naive beings that can display both the most saintly acts of kindness or the foulest malice with a smile on their faces without ever questioning themselves. Most Fairies bestow mortals with their power as either a reward or a curse, and seldom bother telling them anything about it. However, they are born with a purpose they hold deep in their hearts: When they lose this purpose, they slowly lose their Sidhe and their connection to the Earth.

Lore

  • History: Fae have existed since times immemorial, long before humans even started gathering into cities. This was a time when Gods and Dragons roamed the earth, where the Fairies yet inhabited every lush, verdant slice of nature on Earthland. Many heroes of old were said to have been blessed by the fairies, bestowed with their beauty and power, and went on to become great heroes and rulers. Few could understand a Fairy's fickle spirit enough to understand why they did it, perhaps simply for personal amusement, gratitude, or simply a desire to imitate their Earth which granted them their own powers.

By then, there were no Seraphim or Demons on Earthland, nor was Illumin known, let alone worshipped as the supreme Deity he is today. But then the Uldyssian wars began. The Fairies could feel the presence of something, as natural spirits akin to Earthland's very senses, and they knew the danger that their world was in. But no amount of prophecies and forewarning could prevent the calamity that soon erupted. People were slaughtered, forests razed as Demons and Seraphim used this world as their playground.

Many fairies died protecting their home, too easily susceptible to the Demons' corruption to pose a threat to them. Desperate, the humans turned not to the Natural spirits they once revered, but to the Seraphim. Together, the Seraphim created the Nephilim out of willing humans and together, they pushed back the forces of darkness until the war was over.

The Seraphim had no chance against the pure hearted Fairies, devoid of wickedness in their hearts... But the fairies themselves were no match for the unbridled growth of human civilization following the Uldyssian war. Under the teachings of the Illuminian church, people spread their faith and gradually conquered untamed lands one inch at a time, encoraching on both elves and fairies who'd so far lived in harmony.

This dissoance brought the Fairies to near complete extinction, and the number of Fae they created plummetted accordingly. The very nature of Fairies became the stuff of myths in most countries, save perhaps for Caelum: A land where the people still respect the ancient mystics that came before them, and where fairies still mingle with mortals in secluded, scarcely known sanctuaries. Every now and then, people boasting mysterious powers of nature still appear on Earthland: They are the last remnants of the Fae, and they often vanish as fleetingly as they arrived.

  • Fae Eyes: Fae can see people by the colour of their aura, which lets them see through invisibility. This counts as Physical Sight.

Fae Contracts

  • Contract - Seelie Court: Some Fairies are benevolent, and believe mortals should be cherished and protected. Renowned for their beauty, these are the fairies who fondly admire mortals for their ingenuity, resourcefulness and creativity, and are often prone to imitating the best of human society. Devoid of any notions of right and wrong, Seelie Court fairies are thus motivated by pure hearted benevolence, and their contractees must display this benevolence to retain their favour. The user may decide the reasoning for themselves.

    • Bonus: In return, the user receives a passive increase of 10% to their Strength, Speed, Constitution, and Endurance when battling opponents of Evil Alignment (Infamy Higher than fame). Should the opponent be equal or higher ranked, this becomes a 20% increase. The boost is added on top of the percentage of the Fae transformations resulting in 20% instead of 10% for Sidhe Manifestation for example. Should the user do Bad Quests or perform actions that could be considered bad in the eyes of the Fairies, they will lose this boost and must pay double mana to use the spells listed under Fae Mode from that moment on.

  • Contract - Unseelie Court: Fairies aren't really defined by mortal concepts of right and wrong. Whether their actions are seen as good or evil depends solely on the eye of the beholder. While some fairies derive their joy and purpose from assisting mortals or seeing them flourish, others thrive on tormenting them, at times even killing for pleasure. These Fairies are called the Unseelie Court, and being given power by them is often a curse rather than a gift. Unseelie court fairies expect their contractees to entertain them by inflicting pain on mortals and cause chaos in their civilization, or risk losing their favour. The user may decide the reasoning for themselves.

    • Bonus: In return, the user receives a passive increase of 10% to their Strength, Speed, Constitution, and Endurance when battling opponents of Good Alignment (Fame higher than Infamy). Should the opponent be equal or higher ranked, this becomes a 20% increase. The boost is added on top of the percentage of the Fae transformations resulting in 20% instead of 10% for Sidhe Manifestation for example. Should the user do Good Quests or perform actions that could be considered good in the eyes of the Unseelie Court, they will lose this boost and must pay double mana to use the spells listed under Fae Mode from that moment on.

  • Contract - None: Among the Fae, some have managed to turn the Sidhe they were bestowed by a Fairy into their own. Using a certain method with an item called the Sidhe Cure, the Fae can remove the contract burned in their Sidhe to no longer be bound in servitude.

    • Boost: Doing so removes the experience boost gained for completing quests, however, it grants the Fae a passive increase of 10% to their Strength, Speed, Constitution, and Endurance instead due to being more attuned to their Sidhe. The color of the wings, however, remains the same based on the original contract they signed. The boost is added on top of the percentage of the Fae transformations resulting in 20% instead of 10% for Sidhe Manifestation for example.
