While Little Old Nan seemed to brush off the incident with the old man rather easily, Atani found herself still hung up on the matter. Even though she was given her reward for the food delivery service and was told she could go, she did not do so quite yet.

"Did you know that man?" Atani asked the woman. Based on her reaction to him and his reaction to her, she was guessing they somehow knew each other. Little Old Nan sighed and shook her head-- not with disagreement, but with disgust.

"Bitter Old Stan? Yeah, he's my ex-husband."

Oh.

Yeah, that explained quite a bit then. Little Old Nan went on to explain, in brief, their history. But more importantly, ever since the divorce, he has been trying to get revenge on her through various means, many of them quite petty. Atani asked why she hadn't gone to anyone.

It was one thing to be a mild annoyance, but Bitter Old Stan had built up his 'revenge' scheme to stealing. The long-term stalking was a punishable offense as well. But oddly enough, Little Old Nan claimed it would be too much trouble to get the authorities involved. Besides, she preferred to deal with her ex-husband on her own terms.

Well... she supposed there wasn't much she could do if Little Old Nan didn't want to press any charges. But now she felt as if it was her duty to ensure she remained safe from this man. Atani peaked out the window and couldn't see the man anywhere close by. Turning back to Little Old Nan, she asked if there was anything else she could do. Not to deal with Stan since that wasn't what she wanted, but perhaps for something else. After a short moment, Little Old Nan came up with something.

In addition to her groceries, she also needed some medication to be picked up. Atani didn't know why she didn't just bundle this with her food delivery request, especially when needing medication seemed rather urgent, but whatever. She wasn't here to criticize the old woman. Little Old Nan reassured Atani that she would be compensated for this task as well. Atani would have agreed to assist regardless, but she appreciated her generosity.

Atani was handed the old woman's prescription and was given directions for how to get to the apothecary. With that out of the way, she left the old woman's house. Once more, she checked around for Bitter Old Stan; it appeared he truly did leave. Deeming the area safe, Atani put the prescription into her ring's pocket dimension and morphed into a field mouse. Even if the old man was still lingering in the shadows, the new form would surely throw him off.

Atani, now transformed into a field mouse, scurried across the streets of Magnolia in search of the apothecary. It was a bit farther from the woman's house than the market was. When she finally arrived, she checked to make sure the coast was clear before morphing back into her normal elven form. She entered the apothecary. It was a quaint little place. Upon the shelves, there seemed to be offered both magical and mundane medicines. Checking her client's prescription, hers seemed to be rather standard.

After browsing the aisles briefly, Atani walked up to the front desk and handed the apothecary Little Old Nan's prescription. It took him but a moment to check it over before heading to the back in search of the right medicine. While he did this, Atani looked around the shop some more. Out one of the windows, something caught her eye: a quick flash of dark colors.

Cautiously, she approached the window and looked out of it. There... didn't seem to be much, strangely enough. She debated stepping out, just to be sure, but then the apothecary came back. Atani returned to the checkout counter and handed him some jewels the old woman had given her in exchange for the medicine. Pocketing the pills, she headed out the door. Looking to the right and left, again, all seemed to be fine. Maybe she had just seen a bird fly by, but she wasn't 100% convinced just yet. With her guard up, she began her walk back towards Little Old Nan's house.

It wasn't too long before she was able to confirm the source for the flash outside the window. Atani had noticed Old Man Stan once more, but this time, he chose to strike when she was further away from Little Old Nan's house-- approximately two miles.

Atani anticipated his attack and dodged it with ease. Gods, he was resorting to stealing her medication now? Food was one thing, but this?

She dashed a good measure back-- well out of Old Man Stan's reach-- before morphing into a kite once more. She took to the sky, soaring far above him. It didn't matter at this point who was faster. Unless the old man suddenly gained the ability to fly between their last encounter and now, she would reach Little Old Nan's house just fine with the medicine safe and sound.

This time, Atani landed at the back door. It seemed Little Old Nan had heard the commotion from Old Man Stan, so she was ready at the door by the time Atani morphed back into her normal self. She handed the old woman her medicine. She thanked the elf before running to tell Stan off once more and finally handing her the reward.
