Dominic, Priest of Light Word had reached the Kardia Cathedral in Magnolia. Dominic was brought to a private chambers where one of the head priests spoke to him. Hearing that there have been people of the Orchidia Church have gone missing was a shock, but what was more alarming to the younger priest was that there has been no mention of a formal investigation or report to the Rune Knights about this. The head priest stated that no one from the Orchidia Church is confirming these happenings and is concerning, so no one is sure if these rumors are even true. Before the request was made, Dominic accepted the offer and chose to head north to Orchidia and investigate these suspicions. Seeing so much greenery did bring comfort to Dominic. This would be his first visitation to the forest-like city, though he wished it was under better circumstances. Though it was difficult to believe that people were going missing under the church's watch, there was something picking at the priest's heart, overall concern about the Illumin Church trying to hide something with how secretive it seem to be. To Dominic, the Kardia Cathedral, or any sacred ground was a sanctuary, a place of safety. This was why he was so determined to investigate this claim, to rest his doubt and bring hope back. Ravens flew over head every so often. He had never seen so many corvids before, but they seem to frequent North Fiore. Someone had mentioned to him upon asking why they frequent the area, that they are messenger birds who carry word to the protectors of the North. Some say it was the local guild called Paradise Dawn, some say it the ravens are children of a large mother raven who looks over the people, and say they are offsprings of a demon. Whatever the rumor, it all seems the common factor is that these messengers carry word to their protector. For a quick stop for food, Dominic rested just outside Orchidia, snacking on trail mix and an apple. He held his golden coin to his lips as he whispered a silent prayer. The sound of movement awoke him. It was a raven who was perched on a nearby rock. The priest didn't hesitate to offer it some trail mix. As the raven ate from his hand, he observed it, seeing how peaceful and kind it seemed. Some story talk of how dangerous they were or how they brought a bad omen, but all he saw was a creature who hungered and who had their own journey. Dominic closed his fist and whispered a silent prayer of hope before opening up his hand to reveal and ball of golden light, made of pure light magic of his own. He handed it to the raven with a smile and said "Take hope with you and ask your protector to give me guidance, I'm afraid of what I may find". After the two finished their meal together, they both went their separate ways, the raven took to the sky and Dominic gave one last look at his new friend before heading into Orchidia to complete his task. 525 |

Lumikki of Iceberg
"One is an Omen, Eight for a wish"
The door to Lumikki’s room slowly crept forward as a pale girl with short stature entered. It was dark in mage’s personal chamber and tucked in bed, curled up into a ball, laid the Demoness with her harpy companion right beside her. If one was still, they could hear the faint sound of her breathes and small whimpers as she slept. A sound so soft that one wouldn’t believe it came from a creature that could be so cruel. Yet there she was, lost in deep slumber way into the late afternoon.
”If I remember correctly….” The pale girl fluttered about as she tried to look around. Her short white hair was shrouded in a sheer black veil and she wore a black, pink, and white assemble with lace, a girdle, and fluff the clumped in both white and pink. Tightly folded behind her back were two small white wings that flapped ever so slightly as she looked about the quarters in her distress to find the window. ”Miss Erica mentioned the importance of Lady Lumikki getting some fresh air in here….though I wonder if I could even find the windows…” Her soft but monotone voice came out like a near whisper but Eirunn always had a tendency to murmur rather low.
Still, with burning rosy eyes alit in determination. The small Homunculus made her way to the other end, stumbling on the path of finding the windows. The task was turbulent and the docile girl had tripped over a number of times, but at last she found the curtains, and what more, the window. Sadly, she only had time to pry open one before hearing her name called from the hallway. In a jerking gesture, Eirunn stumbled her way right out of the room once more. Leaving it still fairly dark but unsealed from the outside world.
Hours had passed and now one found themselves crossing into the mid-evening. The golden hues of the outside barely sliced their way into the chamber, but their slivers could be seen stretching the along the wall. Soon the sun would leave, allowing the grace of the moon to succeed it. But it was not yet time to be blessed with such a beauty, only the last honied rays and rosy hues of the sky.
It was then, at this time, that a raven had shimmied their way past the crack of the pane. In its beak was something that radiated far brighter than the dying light that painted the mages wall. And in the obscene darkness of her room, it would shimmer with an annoying brightness that stirred the Demon from her sleep.
”Its….been a while….” The Demoness hissed as she collected her thoughts. She long had lost her sense of time within her den as she recovered from the utter humiliation and pain of the jarring encounter; and at the moment, she was not privy to Erica’s intervention. Though if she had, there would be a lot of flung anger.
Pitter-patter was the sound of the raven’s feet as it adjusted itself upon Lumikki’s bed and position itself right beside her face. Twisting from her posture, her glowing gaze would meet its own with slitted pupils that made her seem quite inhuman. But the raven did not flinch or fluster, instead, it dropped the small and radiant orb. Which rolled atop her covered until it bopped her nose.
”How strange….what brings ye?” Lumikki inquired, but the raven was just as eager to appease. ”It was an odd gift from some wayward man. An outsider to the village, yet her wore the same robes as the people ye’ve instructed us to watch. From what we’ve seen, he’s been asking about us, and in the sense, maybe you.”
”—Hmpt, what does a foreigner want with me….” She rose from bed, now half sitting up as one arm propped her while the other took the orb in hand. She rolled the sphere between her fingers, observing the shimmer woven in its grace. A thing she only came to know from her sparring matches with Paradise Dawn’s very own Angel. Such a thing couldn’t fool her eyes.
”Very well…let us see what he wants with me, or this wretched city….” Lumikki left the bed, her quite feet slapping the floor with every step as she sauntered to the window and raised it he last bit of the way. ”Take me little one…” the raven and her harpy were just behind her now. ”Gladly,” he answered, before taking off and leaving the space. Lumikki would follow suite, plunging from her window pane. Black feathers wafted from thin air, swirling around her until she couldn’t be seen through their thick black coverage. From which, emerged a raven that matched the paced of the first and followed in flight.
It didn’t take long with the word of mouth from the flock to find the estranged man. From there, Lumikki stalked his movements with hopes to gleam his desires and his relation to the church. Her ravens, still following the prior commands, had also encircled him from above. Noting his movements from every angle.

Dominic, Archivist of Light The sun was dipping into the horizon and the church doors were closed, meaning if there was a surface this day, it was already past done. Dominic walked up the steps and approached the main double doors. Though he had already assumed it was after hours, it seemed too quiet for him. He would take a moment to look around, only seeing occasional ravens, but no people in the proximity of the church which gave him an odd feeling. He pushed onto the doors but they didn’t budge; locked, confirming they were done with mass for the day as he suspected, then he gave a few knocks. It wasn’t long before a young woman answered, “Good evening, how may I help you?” She wore the garbs of a nun and had a warm smile upon her face. ”Hello, I’m Dominic Lucero, bookkeeper of the Kardia Cathedral” Dominic returned the smile as he gave a polite head bow. “Oh my! Welcome! Please come in!” The nun was surprised as he pulled open the door enough to allow him to enter. She would give one last look out the door before closing it, “What brings you all the way out here from Magnolia, Brother Dominic?” She was polite but was quick to jump straight to the point, though Dominic felt it was because she might be young or in training. ”I’ve been sent by my parish to reopen communication with the Orchidia Church since we have not received word in some time since our last community event” A slight lie given that the concern was deeper that what he let out, especially with the rumor of missing people. “Oh! That’s wonderful, let me go get Brother Mathis” The nun seemed a bit nervous, which wasn’t too surprising, for what Dominic was stating, it should be expected for a higher official to have word with him about such matters. ”Thank you, sister…” He gestured to her politely. “Carla” She finished before bowing to him and quickly walking off and out of site down one of the halls. Seeing that he was alone for the moment, Dominic took a look around to get a feel of the church. The lobby was large and beautiful; the double doors on the other side led to the nave and the archivist made sure to confirm that as he cracked one of the doors open to peak into the empty nave, no one was in there, not in the pews or at the altar. Now it was the waiting game, hopefully he’ll get answers from Brother Mathis. 429 | 954 |

Lumikki of Iceberg
"One is an Omen, Eight for a wish"
Lumikki skirted the skies with ravens to her side. They branched every which way, all with the understanding of their task. Find the so-called priest that beckoned Lumikki via the use of raven. Which hardly took all that much time, as it was clear where he was most likely to converge. And so the flock flew right over to the large Illumin cathedral. A structure that the Demoness dared not cross again. At least, not now.
Lumikki perched onto the highest-most part. It was a crevice in a tower that hung its large brass bells. The ones that chimed on the hour and on momentous occasions, but here it was quite silent now. Just as she felt about the rest of the heap. Silent with dread and brimming with curdling delusions.
In Lumikki's haste before to play a hero. In her attempt to uncover the crimes of the church, she didn't understand, but painted as a monster for its very juxtaposition to her. Lumikki overlooked something rather important. Something that was swelling so evidently within her as she idly awaited the next appearance of such a priest.
There.....it feels.....something here is demonic....The Abyss exists here....but why?!

Dominic, Clergy of Light Soon enough, the sound of steps came to his ear and Dominic returned to his previous waiting spot. He was approached by a man in vestments and judging by the clothing and his demeanor, he seemed to hold sway. "Brother Dominic, it is a pleasure to meet you" the man said as he approached with a smile and confidence. "Brother Mathis, the pleasure is mine" he shook hands, Mathis had a strong assertive grip to Dominic's warm and gentle grip; that quick moment they glanced at one another, there was something in each of their glances, though they shared a smile, there were hints of suspicion in both of their eyes. "I hear that you are trying to open up communications again from the Kardia Cathedral, I pray all are doing well there" Mathis seemed more calmer than Carla, but there was a feeling that seemed off. "By Illlumin's grace the cathedral has been doing well, I pray the same for the Orchidia Church, this is actually my first time visiting" Dominic took a quick look around as if feigning interest, though his main concern was Mathis, hoping that something would come of their greeting. "All is well within our walls, and we're happy to accept any visitors, especially brothers from another parish, though unfortunately we were not excepting visitors this late, we would have prepared for your arrive if we have known you were coming" Mathis seemed apologetic, though Dominic began to wonder if it was genuine. Despite the rumors of missing people, Mathis didn't seem to bring it up or even hint about it. If the Kardian clergyman would question it, there may be a denial, given how confident Mathis seemed, he may be able to hide any information without difficulty, that is if the older clergyman was hiding something. "My apologies, brother Mathis that this was sudden" Dominic didn't bother to provide an excuse, but he got the feeling he wasn't really welcomed at the moment, and given he was alone and had no rank, it wouldn't be possible for him to press to get a tour, "I figured I would pop in for a moment now that I've arrived in the city before turning in for the night, I'll be sure to return for mass on the morrow" He gave an apologetic bow. "That's quite alright, we pray that you rest well and we'll see you then" Mathis replied, barely returning the bow. Dominic's suspicion grew, expecting Mathis to offer him to spend the night at the church, even if a church didn't have any beds, it is expected for the clergymen to offer sanctuary, especially to others of the cloth. Dominic departed from the church, getting fresh air and feeling as if a weight left his shoulders. Now he needed to return the next day and see if he could investigate during mass. 482 | 1,436 [Exit] |
