Masami
With crossed-legs, Masami sat at the border of Myras City and Avvar Mountains, looking directly at the white flag he planted at the peak of the mountains. It's been a day, and surprisingly, the flag was still staying on the same spot as Masami placed it. "It's just wood, it shouldn't be able to stay there for too long, hmm." not that Masami wanted it out of the location, he had supposedly conquered the mountains with that flag. However, considering that there are marauders, smugglers, thieves and other villainous rouges circulating around the mountains... shouldn't they have re-conquered the mountains by getting rid of the flag?

They probably even thought that it was just a joke, bummer.

High up in the air, Masami could see his own breath. 'Guess it's chilly even if it's still spring.' he clasped both of his hands and breathed unto it to keep himself warm. He only had his upper body cloaked in warm garments, enjoying the cool temperature that winds upon his legs. Other than tagging along with Tomoe and the lich, then seeping through the mountains, Masami had no other reasons to be in Myras. It was still early in the morning when he looked back at the flag only to see it—

"Ah, it fell!" Masami exclaimed, abruptly standing up and losing balance. The blond found his own forehead touching the cold floor, in which made him pull himself up to check the sight of the same flag. It seems to stay on the same spot, however, but tilted and will definitely fall in a few minutes. 'Should I fix it...?' the little conqueror asked, pouting a little in indecisiveness. Come to think of it, everybody knew how almighty and powerful the mountain was... literally, with all those smugglers. 'If I go there again, Tomoe might get angry.' he added to his own defense as he slowly crosses his legs upon sitting on the same floor. Would he come back and find out that Masami's gone missing to the mountains? Again, the visual of having Masami kneel upon beans while balancing books on top of both palms have come back to him. Oh well, he couldn't help it. Time to go fix that flag.

Masami
For some reason, Masami couldn't help himself but to tip toe along the Middle District, hoping that his guild members wouldn't catch up to him. Until he'd finally reach the inn, walking straight to the rented room and picking his items up. He failed to use the tools he brought last time, but the current is probably the best time to use them: rope, pliers...? Some more wood, where did these even come from? Masami didn't remember packing all these in his side bag... hopefully, he didn't accidentally steal.

This time, it's no longer hard to climb the mountain – perhaps because Masami had already been there, done that, or perhaps because the current wasn't as strong as before? The mountains felt awfully empty and there aren't any people lurking from afar. That spider had probably done it, threatened the human race. It was Masami's fault, of course, but there's no way he could tell that to anyone, especially in the guild. If they realized that he had caused such trouble, even if it brought the guild some benefits, Masami would definitely get punished. "I wonder how Miss Rinni's doing." he audibly asked himself, then pouted right after. Masami's curious mind had continuously asked himself if the vial even worked, or if it's an example of dumb herbs that don't actually work. Considering that it's just hangover, it probably should have worked.

"Ah, then there'd be no need for the spider's web." assuming that the current was not as strong as before, Masami would have no need to visit the spider's lair to cut himself some current-repelling mesh. Nevertheless, he'd still need to go through the marauders' previous spot, which now seems to be completely abandoned. This is why you should stay away from those types of caves, apparently. Trouble like that is predictable, how come they didn't think of that? Fortunately, Masami wasn't in their shoes to understand.

Masami
The previous spot the marauders' inhabited was completely empty, leaving only dark marks of previously placed tents, bonfire wood left out, dirt and debris. The cave nearby seemed peaceful, the spider must have either left or continued to hibernate. "Haha, loots." it was as if horns, wings and a tail grew out of Masami when he devilishly chuckled that thought out, such as this imp. Would it even be considered stealing if they were leftover items...? Considering that the previous owners were thieves, anyway, Masami believed that it won't be so bad. Humans steal the stolen, and oddly enough, the blond used that as a reason.

Perhaps they left in a hurry, leaving cloth and small inventory around. Masami suddenly became nervous... was it because his mind and morals were aware that he's going to be stealing? 'Dammit, it's fine.' he scolded himself, internally, and usually, that's not such a good thing to do. He was taught that demons usually act nice by telling humans that it's alright to do certain things once in a while, and such act is certainly deceit. Nevertheless, Masami continued to search for... whatever he can search, actually. Masami can't be a chooser, not saying that he was a loser. He'd definitely be in trouble if the guild finds out that he did such things, perhaps unless it's actually completely fine. The guild master liked drinking a lot, and that's not fine to Masami.

"Eh, I don't want gold." how picky, Masami placed tiny golden nuggets in one pocket, not that he can just leave them here. Other people will surely pick them if he left it out, it is probably a good time to be selfish. He couldn't forget about the flag, of course, but there's still some time left. Masami isn't the one to rush, even if he grew up in an environment where they would always rush. Oh well, gotta find a way to vaguely break a rule.

Masami
Masami let out an "Oh?" sound in response to the cracking noise that was made under his foot. It was a piece of paper, surely not a dried leaf. When Masami assumed that it wasn't anything of worth at first, he tried leaving it be... only to come back to it in curiosity. It appeared to be a note, perhaps a secret Myras code? Smugglers are cheeky fellows, this must be their key to something valuable in the underground merchant world. "Ah," Masami reacted in disappointment upon collecting the paper between two fingers, "not like I can completely understand it." the blond sighed right after, placing the paper inside his overcoat's pocket anyway.

The numbers were written in, of course, the universal language; consider it Fiorian, or whatever, but it's not something Masami could easily understand. The handwriting made it quite unclear to understand, considering that Masami only ever fluently knew how to read Joyan alphabet, numbers and calligraphy. It wasn't a complete disappointment, however, but Masami found this somewhat hopeless. A three-piece signal, written in black ink over light paper. It appears to be stolen... or smuggled, indeed. You can truly expect all sorts of stolen goods in this location – Masami would wonder if he'd get himself a stolen house, after.

"It's cooler now." Masami reacted like this when the wind blew through his face, having his bangs dance over his eyes. He lightly backed away, 'It's just wind.' and told himself this, pulling himself up before he would actually fall down. Not to mention that he is, in fact, in a mountain – if he actually fell down, it would lead to nothing but red-colored snow by the bottom and mashed flesh, headfirst. Yikes, what a sight. If that were to happen, Masami would haunt the mountains. Guess it would be a Joyan performer ruling the mountains, and not that so-called witch – in his mind, Masami honestly liked that sort of idea.

Masami
The tilting flag could be seen a few meters from where Masami was, seeing this sight made his heart skip a beat... well, not literally, that would be bad. He's now slowly reaching the peak, and the wind current started feeling the same as before. 'This is bad,' thought Masami, 'the spider's web would've been really helpful now.' Masami should have considered bringing along a pile of the same great spider's web, this kid simply completely discarded it after 'conquering' the mountains the last time he came here. Oh well.

It appeared to be dancing, the flag's wooden pole, as it tilts by the end, and Masami was starting to get a harder time reaching up. He knew that if he made a small mistake in steps, he'd definitely slip down. The boy's lower limbs were getting colder than how his upper body feels; although it should have been warm, the cold somehow found itself a way to put the boy's body into a state of freezing. It felt like being stuck in a confined room, directly facing the air-conditioner. At the right timing, the note from Masami's pocket flew out by the South, the direction behind Masami. He lightly yelped, successfully catching the note (for some reason) before it completely leaves him, and that included his balance. When he felt as if time had stopped, Masami wanted to lull himself to sleep.

The blond slipped off, but it halted, leaving him to slide away albeit slowly. Masami assumed that there was nothing to stop this unless he had finally reached the flat part of the mountain, but that would also mean that he would need to hike back up. "Oh?" Masami exclaimed when his head seemed to hit something metallic, "Oh?!" he continued to slide away, however, the leftover tension circulating over right at the top of his head.

Masami
Masami found himself rolling backwards, which led to a halt. The moment was very similar to watching yourself in third-person, just like in the movies. Not until Masami's fall would finally halt, he had no absolute control over his own body at all. It was a battle of the self and physics, something so uncomfortable. Upon facing the floor one more time, Masami raised his head to see his own vitality coloring a very small portion of the ice. "Ah..." he reacted with calmness, somehow expecting that this would happen. He lightly held unto his bottom lip, which was cut by the ice by the impact. "It's painful." as if declaring a moment of first time, the pain somehow made Masami satisfied. Perhaps it's because it has been a long time ever since Masami felt actual pain... was it called pierce? He'd definitely be scolded if he comes back to Joya with such wound.

He could almost gag by the metallic, sweet taste of his own vitality, but he couldn't help but continue sucking the liquid off of his own lips. Looking forward, he spotted a silver corner with the same sanguine shade. 'It must be that one.' he mentally referred to the cause of the small wound, that corner was probably the reason of the bleeding, though Masami couldn't understand how it exactly touched him – he had only felt the pain when he saw the red liquid.

The silver corner appeared to be buried in ice, seemingly square-shaped, unless the apex of a pyramid shape is facing downwards. It must be something valuable, to be hidden in ice like this. With force, Masami reached for the corner, pulling himself upwards. "Ah, it's completely stuck." Masami had no time to think "What could it be?" and had immediately assumed that it was something odd... perhaps even valuable, something he can bring back to the guild or Joya, if they even would accept something that came from an unknown location. Myras City doesn't seem to be so known in Masami's hometown, so that's a thing.

Masami
Finally on two feet, was lowered down to scratch the ends of the ice that covers the unknown cover. "It doesn't seem to be melting out anytime soon." he thought out loud and believed that it was a logical thing to assume, if you'd consider even the wind current and the temperature. If it ever melts, it will just instantly freeze back! Masami just found some sort of treasure and he won't let this pass, so he made a distance and raised a pinky up, a magic circle forming over it like a scope and inhaled. When he blew through the magic circle, it dispersed into a burst of flame, directly heating up the metallic corner including the ice that surrounded it. Masami saw how the red vitality evaporated and left a dusty, dark-colored mark over the corner from where it left over, probably due to the heat. The fire had only revealed not even half of the item, but Masami could finally see that it is a four-sided shape.

Still not used to magic, Masami had to take a break before doing the same spell again. It felt like all his bodily fluids were being sucked off, and to Masami, that single spell felt absolutely tiring. He could continue walking for days but something affecting the inside of his vessel was an entirely different thing.

He looked at the object and continued to catch his break, then instead taking a metal blade from his inventory to at least stab the ice off of the item. His fingertips were cold, almost as if they were frozen and detached from Masami's hand. "I might die of exposure." Masami laughed this out as if it was a joke, but being factual, he knew that he might actually die in the cold at this rate. The object, having heat conducted through it, felt spicily hot. It wasn't giving an aura of heat like a bonfire would, unfortunately. Masami's blade would cut through the ice as if he was cutting animal meat, believing that it was because of the object's conducted heat that allowed some of the ice to slowly melt down. The wind current was still the same, however.

Masami
The object wasn't exactly out of the ice, now, but it finally revealed the front door. It was a safe! But Masami would merely call this a box, however. Such things weren't in Masami's hometown in Joya, but only ever existed in fiction, such as the stories of spies cracking certain safes, etcetera. "Eh?" Masami wasn't entirely disappointed nor appointed, but he immediately assumed that there was no way for him to open it up. "Is it embedded with magic, or...?" if it was, then Masami's magic would not be such of use.

Apparently, it had a small lock. Not unless it was truly embedded with magic, anyone could easily hammer the coded lock out. The person who hid this probably assumed that they wouldn't need to lock it if they'd be hiding it under the ice, anyway. "Ah!" Masami exclaimed upon grabbing a good look at the coded lock, it had writings similar to the ones from the note! The boy immediately took the paper from his overcoat's pockets with two fingers, brazing a great amount of mind power, analyzing the symbols. 'Okay,' he thought, energetically sighing right after, 'this should be easier than I expected.'

Of course, the lock still had some icy-frozen parts that disabled Masami from easily flipping and scrolling the codes until it matched the writings. What luck! The lock, despite the code not exactly aligned, clicked upon completion. The blond had a very surprised (yet anxious) look on his face upon finally taking the lock, the surface of the safe still somehow warm from the fire spell Masami used. "I hope whatever's inside isn't damaged." he clasped his palms and lowered his head, audibly wishing fate itself to move and fix whatever Masami had destroyed, if it was destroyed, however. 'That was actually...' the boy still couldn't believe that the code would even work, just like what the note mentioned. Seems like the cat didn't die in his curious point.

Masami
The performer raised the same left pinky finger, another magic circle forming upon it. This time, he lightly blew through it – the magic circle dispersed into a smaller burst of ember, seemingly heating the safe up with no intention of completely burning it... that would be bad, very bad if it actually burned up, so Masami was being careful. When the icy surface converted into liquid, which immediately evaporated in the flames' heat, Masami covered his hand with the overcoat's fabric and pulled the safe's door knob, excited to see what was going to be revealed in a few seconds.

There was a small rupture of aura when the impact traveled back to Masami, lightly pushing him off, as if releasing something he wasn't supposed to release in the first place. "Hmm," Masami openly thought, his gaze trying to avoid the safe as he slowly closes it, "maybe I should fix the flag first." Thus, Masami stood back up and carefully (though heavily for stabilization) made his steps back to the peak. The wind current seemed to calm down, now, giving Masami an easier time to approach the flag. It still had that Joyan symbol which supposedly mean "conquered," making Masami cringe a little. "I look like an edgy teenage kid because of this." the performer muttered out, somewhat insulting himself as he grabs the wooden pole and stationing it to a more, concrete place. He'd easily take it off, that explains the unsteady position. It had probably loosened up already because of the wind's current, rocking the wooden pole as it swayed the flag's fabric at the top end.

Well, now that was finished, back to the safe. Masami honestly didn't do anything but re-plant it deeper in another location, which isn't even so far from the previous location. The boy wanted everyone to see that Avvar Mountains have been conquered in which Masami would evil laugh afterwards... then getting punished for a ridiculous scheme.

Masami
"Well, that was scary." the Joyan performer concluded, opening the safe's door once more; it didn't have that impact from a while ago... did he actually release some sort of spirit he wasn't supposed to? Joya had many stories about different kinds of spirits – not that they were scary, but they were ridiculously terrifying. That certain story about a pale woman with long black hair that covers her front face was one of those which caused little Masami to cry for two days straight because of a similar theatrics play. The same boy had shivers down to his spine upon visualizing the appearance of the monster.

Finally, he granted himself a good look of the inside of the safe. "Oh?" he openly exclaimed, "Oh! A hannya!" he carelessly took the bottom of the item, which was a Joyan mask that they used for plays. Masami had completely memorized the story of this mask, about what it is about and... alright, maybe he did release a spirit from the safe. "It's been a while since I've held one of this." he looked through it, his face not entirely touching the inside of the mask. It was pretty light-weight, but quite heavy in terms of theater masks, as much as Masami understands. "Is this a stolen good? I could bring this back to the theater." finally facing the front of the mask.

"It's well-made, too." Masami browsed the tiniest details, such as the paint strokes and the wooden carving of the mask. He had an idea and took his scarlet head band off and tied it by the vertical corners of the said mask. When Masami wore the head band again, the mask was finally hanging by the right side of Masami's head. "I should fix this by the time I get home." the mask was still unnervingly wobbly, but that's alright. He wore a part of his tradition now, and Masami felt like he was back to Joya by that simple item. Time to go back home... what about the safe?
