He shook his head at the thought. He wasn't jealous of her. In fact, quite the opposite. He was proud of her. She was going through so much and overcame it all. Mostly on her own. He needed to quit slacking and try hard if he wanted to prove himself and keep his family safe. He needed to train, gear up, and train some more. Even Ko, that slacking drunkard of a boyfriend his sister had, at least had a sword to his name.
Bundled in winter attire to keep the cold off his flesh, Masado Faithe found himself on a frost-covered farm, where Jim was having trouble with wolves again. He sighed, as just this past spring his sister had killed a wolf. Now, in the dead of winter, he had another wolf. Perhaps the first had pups and they had grown?
Seemed as logical reasoning as any, right?
Why was Jim's sheep out in their pen in winter anyway? Shouldn't they be inside the bark or something and safe from the wild...
oh.
nevermind.
The barn was apparently under renovation and the sheep were in a makeshift pen wearing blankets atop their wool to keep them warm. But now came the problem. How the hell was he supposed to take down a full-grown wolf with no weapon?
'Guess that's why you're a wizard.' he thought to himself as he entered the sheep pen. He just needed a plan and a place to hide or an effective disguise until the wolf appeared.
How did he end up in a field dressed as a sheep? Well, whatever it takes to get the job done right? As he waited for the wolf to strike, he had no clue the wolf had him in mind as a juicy lamb chop.
"Oh shit!" Masado's eyes grew wide as he saw the wolf lunged toward him. He quickly threw his hand into the air calling down lightning from the presently clear skies. The lightning struck him, causing him to glow with energy as he barely managed to outrun the hungry wolf.
Once ahead of it, he turned toward the would-be predator. Throwing his arms up to protect his face, he ran at a full charge to ram into the large white wolf, knocking it to the ground with a shrill yelp of pain. Once it was down, he stepped on its throat and finished the job with a sickening crunch.
Shedding the wool costume, he scooped up the corpse and carried it to Jim to collect his reward. He sighed and headed out into the cold to seek his next job, as well as learn more of what became of Penumbral Guard.
