Lore: The precursors to the Amaforth Academy, the Scholars of Avalon, were pioneers of their time travelling around the world, learning the secrets of their magic from various sources, which was refined into a series of books called The Tomes of Avalon. These encyclopedias of knowledge were passed down through the generations of scholars, adding more to them over time. However, all was not well within the Scholars of Avalon as the sect slowly diminished in numbers while prospective glory seekers sought out the tomes for their greedy desires. Hoping to gain the powers of the tomes, a greedy, talentless scholar named Juan stole three of them in quick succession, the tomes of Flames, Shadows and Sky, respectively, as the library that housed the tomes for open display fell under attack by a demonic incursion allowing the thief responsible to claim them for their purposes. The remaining seven were separated and sent across the continent to be securely kept within the various banks and vaults of the countries best affiliated with their elements. Avalon Scholars would complete pilgrimages to each of these tomes to enrich their knowledge with their magical abilities.

Over time, as the demonic incursions worsened, education and archiving took a backfoot, with the swaths of members being conscripted to fight against the monsters. As a consequence, the Scholars were reduced from the thousands who served throughout society to a mere handful of elders who shaped the wills of the ruling class. Lacking any form of succession, the Scholars of Avalon fell to dust with their tomes being the only lasting presence in this world becoming artefacts and trinkets for the elite to use at their pleasure. Some were given to the Amaforth Academy however, many to this day remain carefully guarded treasures such as the Tome of Blizzards held within the Nataqin Catacombs buried amongst the last frost members of this long-dead organization.

Description: The Tome of Creation was made in partnership with the Tome of Oceans in an attempt to form a union between mages of such contrasting elements while establishing the basis of what would form the Tomes of Avalon. Devised during a simpler time, the front page is unsophisticated bearing a single magical seal with its age only being betrayed by the corrupted golden overgrowth mistaken for ornate trimmings which continue to consume the front of the book over time.

Extra

Requirements:

  • The user must possess Earth-based magic if they are a mage.

Bonus:

  • Intelligence: +50

Effects

  • Fortified Defenses: The earth spells of the user have double durability. This does not mean that the spells deal double damage. It only means that it requires double the damage to cancel the spells of the user. Furthermore, this stacks on Defensive-type spells, however, it does not double it. Instead, Defensive-type spells are thrice as durable instead of double e.g. a normal A-rank Defensive-type spell can take 2x A-rank damage before breaking, however, now it can take up to 3x A-rank damage.
  • Expanded Insight: Whilst possessing Avalon's Tome of Creation, the user may create and cast an additional Earth-Based S++ Spell, this occupies the user's own spell slots.
  • Protected from the Earth: Avalon's Tome of Creation possesses a Major Earth Resistance
  • Bolstered Return: Whenever the user is struck by Earth-type spells that are not sourced from them, they will receive mana equivalent to one rank lower than the spell cast.
